Natural Beauty!

There are an insane amount of beauty products to choose from in your average beauty aisle. The difference with these products, however, is that they're either 100% natural, or are "more natural" than your run of the mill beauty products. Here are some of the products I just can't do without!

Cold-Pressed Extra Virgin Coconut Oil (EVCO)

Any brand will do

Easily one of my favorite products.
What I use it for:
Facial moisturizer--a little goes a long way. I've stopped using creams and  facial moisturizer lotions for over a year now and have been very happy with the results!
Deep conditioning oil--I mix it with my conditioner and let it sit for a while
Hair and Scalp moisturizer--my hair is very dry by nature, and in the wintertime, I often suffer from scalp dryness. By rubbing a small amount of coconut oil in my hair and/or scalp, I alleviate the itchiness and dryness that can occur. Anyone who asks, I'll tell them that EVCO saved my hair!
Skin moisturizer--my skin gets very dry in the wintertime, and my eczema often "acts up". Right after a shower, I rub some coconut oil all over my skin, and it keeps me very moisturized. I can then use my regular lotion on top of that, or just use the coconut oil by itself. Any dry spots I had from the eczema are healed very quickly.

Good to know:
It's edible!  Don't be put off by the nutrition facts on the label, EVCO is very healthy for you.

Where to buy:
Any health store (Vitamin Shop, GNC), or grocery store in the oil aisle

Jojoba Oil

What I use it for:
Same as EVCO! It's just not edible!

Good to know:
The jojoba oil really isn't even an oil. It's a wax ester from the jojoba tree. The molecular structure of the ester is very similar to that of human sebum--the natural oils our skin produces. Due to this, it makes for an excellent skin moisturizer, and doesn't leave you shiny!

Where to buy:
I usually get mine at GNC or Vitamin Shop.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO)

What I use it for:
Skin moisturizer--I add it to my lotion in the winter to give an extra boost of moisture
Hair conditioning treatment--I either add the EVOO to my conditioner, or use it by itself after shampooing to condition my hair and keep it moisturized.
Facial moisturizer--While jojoba and EVCO are my first choices for a facial moisturizer, EVOO acts as an amazing stand-in.

Good to know:
EVOO is a pretty heavy oil and you can easily use too much! Use a little at a time until you figure out how much to use for your hair or skin needs.

Where to buy:
Grocery stores!

Aloe Vera Juice

What I use it for:
Hair conditioning/moisturizing-- I add the AVJ (notice, everything has an abbreviation here in this blog) to my leave-in conditioner for added moisture and protection. This leave-in conditioner is a combination of jojoba oil, a moisturizing conditioner, and aloe vera juice, and has done wonders for my hair and scalp.

Good to know:
There are MANY uses for AVJ, including a soothing scalp treatment for dandruff. When used regularly to treat the scalp after shampooing, the AVJ will sooth the scalp and get rid of dandruff.
Be careful to not purchase the aloe vera juice that has sugars or flavors added to it.
You can drink it! It tastes horrendous, but has insane health benefits. Just put some in a shot glass, and bottoms up!
This has to be stored in the refrigerator.
Go to this blog for more info on AVJ!

Where to buy:
Any health store should carry AVJ. I've seen it at Walmart once before, however I've gotten mine from GNC.

    1. Girl, I'm loving all these comments! lol. I'd have to say EVCO (extra virgin coconut oil) is by far my favorite to add to my conditioner. It prevents protein loss, and it's one of the few oils that has a molecular structure that is able to penetrate the hair shaft. For lotion, i really like the EVCO, but I must say the EVOO is a GREAT addition to lotion, because of it being so thick.

    1. Actually, yes! I read somewhere the EVCO is really helpful with eczema, and so far so good for me. It's fighting the good fight to keep my skin looking decent, as the dry heat and cold air are doing a NUMBER on my skin. Your aunt can mix it with a heavy, thick lotion (I use Shea Moisture Shea Butter lotion--I'll be doing a review on this product soon. it's all natural).
